During the second quarter of 2023, the top carpooling and ridesharing apps in New Zealand exhibited varying performance trends in terms of weekly downloads and active users. Below, we break down the performance metrics for each app, based on data from Sensor Tower.

Uber - Request a ride saw a relatively steady trend in weekly downloads, ranging from around 5.1K to 6.7K. The highest number of downloads was observed in the final week of June, reaching approximately 6.2K. Active users fluctuated slightly throughout the quarter, peaking at around 254.9K in mid-June and dipping to a low of approximately 228.2K at the end of May.

For Uber - Driver: Drive & Deliver, weekly downloads varied between 1.5K and 2.4K. The app's active user base remained relatively stable, with a slight increase in the middle of the quarter, peaking at about 30K in mid-May.

DiDi Rider: Affordable rides experienced consistent weekly downloads, averaging around 1.2K to 1.4K. The active user count also showed stability, hovering between 9.3K and 9.8K, with minor fluctuations throughout the quarter.

Ola: Book Cab, Auto, Bike Taxi had the lowest range of weekly downloads among the top five apps, with figures between 387 and 583. The app’s active user numbers saw a gradual decline from approximately 17.9K at the start of the quarter to around 14.5K by the end of June.

Lastly, Bolt: Request a Ride showed a notable increase in weekly downloads, starting at 299 in late March and rising to 654 by the end of June. Active users followed a similar upward trend, increasing from about 3.4K to 4.3K over the same period.
